When I reference depression and tie it to the metaphor of “going against the grain”, I am talking about going the opposite direction of what Depression tells you to do.

Depression becomes this voice in your head that has a life of ITS own. IT is your worst enemy posing as your friend. You start to listen to what IT’S saying and give IT value. Pretty soon you’re following IT to the deepest and darkest and unsafe places of your mind.

It become easier to go with IT than against IT. But don’t. Sometimes you just have to fight IT! Go against the grain! Push past the negativity in your head. Take away ITS life. Depersonalize IT. And even when it’s getting easier keeping trying hard to over come your depression.
